Job Purpose: 

  • The post holder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of care support and the selection, management and development of staff working within Blue Ocean Services Limited.

The post holder will be subject to registration as the Branch(s) Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

  1. To assist the Registered Care Manager in all aspects of care management.
  2. Ensure that care is provided according to all relevant policies, procedures and regulations.
  3. To assist in the recruitment of care workers observing current Company procedures and policies.
  4. To maintain accurate records of support workers and Service User’s. Record relevant details of all new Service User’s and support workers according to Company policy and keep all records updated and in accordance with Data Protection GDPR regulations.
  5. Undertake Risk Assessments in service user’s home.
  6. Consult with family members and other approved persons to ensure that care is on-going and that all client needs are identified and met.
  7. Assist in collating Carers’ logs, reading and implementing issues identified accordingly.
  8. Carry out ‘On-Call’ duties on rota basis and with a level of flexibility on weekends, nights and bank holidays  when the need arises.
  9. Ensure that support workers are trained to administer the required care.
  10. Cover emergency work for support workers due to illness or unforeseen circumstances.

Typical work activities - Some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, allocating and evaluating the workload of the care/support workers to ensure a safe and effective service delivery. Particular attention should be paid to providing continuity of care/support to individual service users.
  • Ensuring that any sickness/absence is adequately covered.
  • Participate in the recruitment of care workers in line with company policies and guidance and ensuring that all recruitment checks are satisfactorily completed.
  • To work with other Care Coordinators as required to ensure a smooth changeover is effected where necessary between areas of responsibility. 

Other areas of your duties will include:

  • Quality Control, Carrying out Reviews, Risk Assessments & monitoring Spot Checks to include report writing and attending Social Services meetings.
  • Informing / Communicating with parents/service users any changes affecting their care
  • Health and Safety 

Educational/Training/Qualifications

NVQ 4 (Leadership & Management) or equivalent E

Experience

Minimum 2 years at line management level, in a similar

role or professional qualification with 2 years relevant care setting experience

This Care Service will involve a programme of personal care and household management that is personalised for each Service User in the form of a Support Plan. Care duties will therefore include assisting the Service User with the following activities and in so doing will at all times observe and respect the the client’s dignity, privacy and independence as far as practical:

Assisting the client to take prescribed medication

Assisting with washing and dressing

Preparation of snacks and meals according to the client’s likes / dislikes.

Assisting with feeding, as required.

To maintain accurate, concise and timely records of service user logs,

Main responsibilities will include, ensuring Care staffs personal and electronic files are up-to-date and accurate, provide support and assistance to care workers, assigning Care Workers to Service Users on a permanent basis, ensuring that holiday/sickness and emergency calls are assigned in a timely manner, liaising with and providing support to Field Care Supervisors, Responsible for all data input relevant to post, ensuring that all Service User’s paper and electronic records are kept up-to-date and accurate and attending care calls as and when business needs dictates.

Other duties include:

  • To ensure care plans and risk assessment are updated on a regular basis in line with internal policy.
  • Implementing and monitoring all relevant aspect of the electronic call monitoring system.
  • Assessing, negotiating and deciding on the feasibility of new cases from any contracting source.
  • To discuss and negotiate with service users and/or relevant advocate/agencies. Any situation regarding service user and Blue Ocean care agency.
  • Attending meetings, drawing up rotas to ensure the needs of all care plans are met. And to ensure that care staffs receives their rotas in a reasonable and agreed time.
  • To carry out appropriate and authorised investigations into complaints or incidents arising from the provision of care
  • To deputise as required in the absence of the manager
  • To carry out on-call duties, overnight and at weekends on a rota basis as determined by management. When on on-call, provide telephone support and assistance to care workers and service users and to be available to be called out as necessary.
  • To work flexibly as required by the needs of the service
  • To carry out direct observation and spot check on care staffs and implement any actions arising from these checks. Ensure checks are recorded.
  • To assist with planning and organising staffs recruitment.
  • To organise and attend service user reviews; including reviewing and updating of needs assessments, care/support plan and risk assessment documents.
  • To liaise closely with colleagues and other care professionals
  • To engage in the interviewing of care staffs and to assess care workers against skills for care common induction standards during shadowing.

Essentials:

  • Must have NVQ L3 or equivalent
  • Experience of service provision in the care industry
